Shenendehowa used a 21-9 run in the third quarter to take control in a 60-50 victory over Ballston Spa Friday, Feb. 1, in a Suburban Council boys basketball game.
James Altenburger netted 18 points, and Jake Reinisch contributed 12 points on four three-pointers for the Plainsmen, who trailed 26-25 at halftime. Jayson Faizy drained six three-pointers as part of a 22-point night for the Scotties.
Elsewhere in the Suburban Council, Bethlehem survived a scare from Schenectady and defeated the Patriots 75-70 to remain undefeated. Erik Salo scored 19 points, Justin Barnes chipped in with 17 points and Michael Ortale added 13 points for the Eagles. Jaquan Johnson led Schenectady with 20 points, and Lamar Fisher contributed 13 points.
Troy outscored Christian Brothers Academy 22-12 in the third quarter on its way to an 80-69 victory. Latyce Faison paced the Flying Horses with 28 points, and Nazaire Merritt netted 21 points. Jordan King led CBA with 29 points.
Shaker outscored Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 14-9 in the fourth quarter to defeat the Spartans 48-46. Anthony Clayton had 13 points, and Trey Mariano contributed 11 points for the Blue Bison. Jack Wyatt netted 15 points, and Noah Agoney added 12 points for the Spartans.
Albany scored 35 points in the second half to fend off Guilderland 59-50. Michael Alamo-Benitez led the Falcons with 27 points, while Ryan Teaney paced the Dutchmen with 14 points.
In a non-league game. Colonie defeated LaSalle 52-46 behind Josh Aybar’s 17 points. Sean Desharnais led LaSalle with 12 points, and Connor Cepiel added 11 points.
