Colonial Council boys basketball: Messiah Mallory, J.J. Chestnut lead Watervliet past Cohoes

Messiah Mallory and J.J. Chestnut combined to score 39 points to lead Watervliet to a 68-53 victory over Cohoes Tuesday, Feb. 5, in a Colonial Council boys basketball game.

Mallory did his damage near the basket as he poured in 20 points, while Chestnut made five three-pointers on his way to a 19-point night for the Cannoneers, who pulled away in the second half.

Kyle Milligan and Troy Snyder each scored 14 points for the Tigers.

Elsewhere in the Colonial Council, Mohonasen outscored LaSalle 14-6 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 52-41 victory over the Cadets. Logan Calkins had 11 points, while Duncan Tallman and Nicholas Richmond each netted 10 points for the Mighty Warriors. Sean Desharnais scored 10 points for LaSalle.

Schalmont defeated Lansingburgh 79-63 in a match-up of the top two teams in the league. Shane O’Dell poured in 27 points, including 12 points in the fourth quarter, to lead the Sabres (13-0 league, 18-0 overall). LJ Randle contributed 19 points, and Gannon Strube added 14 points.

Trevor Green scored 20 points, and Isaiah Knight chipped in with 11 points for the Knights (10-3, 10-7).

Cobleskill-Richmondville got past Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk 53-46. Pat Nichols struck for 18 points, and Donovan Pacatte contributed 15 points for the Bulldogs, while C.J. Bianchino led the Indians with 20 points.

Catholic Central outscored Voorheesville 17-10 in the fourth quarter to defeat the Blackbirds 52-46. Jackson Brown had 19 points for the Crusaders, while Joe Saia paced the Blackbirds with 18 points.
