SCHODACK – The Maple Hill boys and girls basketball teams swept Patroon Conference rival Cairo-Durham on Senior Night Tuesday, Feb. 5.
In the girls’ game, Maple Hill shrugged off a slow start to defeat Cairo-Durham 51-24. The Wildcats outscored the Mustangs 35-16 in the second half to break open a low-scoring game.
Stacia Coyne and Lydia Chittenden each scored 12 points to lead Maple Hill’s balanced attack. Arianna Myers netted 12 points for Cairo-Durham.
The boys’ game followed a similar pattern, with Maple Hill using a big second half to put away Cairo-Durham 67-48. After falling behind 16-10 in the first quarter, the Wildcats went on a 19-5 run in the second quarter to pull ahead by eight points at halftime and then outscored the Mustangs 38-27 in the second half to secure the victory.
Nate Mannion had 19 points, and Tyler Hanrahan added 14 points for Maple Hill. Louis Laregina scored 17 points to lead Cairo-Durham.
