CDHSHL: Michael Bievenue adds to his scoring lead in Bethlehem’s victory

Michael Bievenue continues to light the lamp at a high rate.

The Bethlehem junior forward scored six goals and added an assist to lead the Eagles to a 12-2 victory over the Capital District Jets Wednesday, Feb. 6, in a Capital District High School Hockey League game at the Bethlehem Area YMCA.

It was the second consecutive six-goal game for Bievenue, who now leads the CDHSHL with 45 goals and 67 points. Bievenue has scored at least two goals in seven of his last eight games and has registered hat tricks six times during this most recent stretch of games. Bethlehem’s Justin Chenaille is second in the league with 24 goals and 53 points.

Chenaille got Bethlehem (12-2-0 league, 17-2-0 overall) on the scoreboard less than one minute into the first period off a pass from Patrick Cavanaugh, and the Eagles kept going. Dylan Kowalsky tallied with 7:09 left in the first period, and Bievenue added a pair of goals late in the stanza to put Bethlehem ahead 4-0.

Bievenue added a pair of goals in the second period and struck two more times in the third period to cap his evening. Ben LaVigne contributed a pair of goals in the third period, with Henry Koplin and Walter Gould also finding the back of the net for Bethlehem.

Goalie Philip Ryan made 38 saves, and Nate Sprague and Noah Savastio scored goals for the Capital District Jets (0-15-0, 0-19-0).

In another CDHSHL game, Christian Brothers Academy doubled up LaSalle 4-2 at Husdon Valley Community College. LaSalle took a 2-0 lead in the first period on a pair of goals from Sebastian Geiger, but CBA rallied in the second and third periods to get the victory and a sweep of its two-game season series against the Cadets (5-9-0, 6-11-1).

Michael Cochran scored twice, while Collin Mesick and Dale Hammond added goals for the Brothers (9-6-0, 11-8-0).
