COXSACKIE – Coxsackie-Athens scored 10 runs in the first two innings and held on for a 13-8 victory over Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons Monday, March 25, in a non-league baseball game.
The Golden Knights took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, only to see the Indians rally for four runs in the bottom half of the frame. ND-BG tied the score at 4-4 in the top of the second before Coxsackie-Athens struck for six runs in the bottom half of the inning to pull ahead for good.
Killian Schrader had two hits, three RBI and three runs scored to lead Coxsackie-Athens’ 13-hit attack. Joe Notabartolo doubled twice and drove in three runs for the Indians, and Ethan Foster added a pair of hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Gil Bell and Austin Schlenker also had two hits apiece.
Coxsackie-Athens opens Patroon Conference play Wednesday, March 27, against Chatham. ND-BG hosts Berne-Knox-Westerlo in a Western Athletic Conference contest Friday, March 29, at Rotterdam Babe Ruth.
