Caiden Larsen’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Berne-Knox-Westerlo a 4-3 victory over Mekeel Christian Academy Monday, April 8, in a Western Athletic Conference baseball game in Berne.

The Bulldogs scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the score at 3. Larsen, who had three hits on the day, finished the comeback with his RBI single in the seventh.

Quinn Toomey turned in a strong pitching performance for BKW. Toomey allowed five hits and struck out 11 batters in a complete-game performance. Cardell Iarusso added a triple and a single as part of the Bulldogs’ nine-hit afternoon.

Mekeel Christian pitcher Dan McCarty worked his way out of several jams before tiring in the final two innings. McCarty struck out 14 BKW batters before being tagged for the loss. Mike Snow led the Lions’ offense with three hits.
