Niskayuna scored 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull away for an 11-4 victory over Schenectady Wednesday, April 17, in a Suburban Council baseball game.
Aaron Whitley belted a three-run homer to highlight the Silver Warriors’ scoring spurt. Chris Erickson doubled, tripled and drove in three runs, while James Murphy, Tim Schaffer and Jack Murray all contributed a pair of hits.
The victory improved Niskayuna’s league record to 6-0.
Elsewhere in the Suburban Council, Shenendehowa pulled out a 3-1 victory over Albany in Clifton Park. Chase Carroll, Ben Lavery and Evan Bean all drove in a run for the Plainsmen. Evan Jones earned the victory after allowing one earned run on three hits and striking out seven batters in 4.1 innings of work.
Alex Casciotti limited Shen to six hits and struck out five in a complete-game pitching performance for the Falcons.
Christian Brothers Academy defeated Columbia 7-2 behind three hits from Sonny D’Antonio. John Irons drove in two runs in Saratoga Springs’ 4-2 victory over Averill Park, while Colonie handled Troy 11-1.
