Niskayuna scored seven runs in the top of the second inning on its way to a 12-4 victory over Guilderland in a battle of undefeated Suburban Council baseball teams Tuesday, April 23, in Guilderland.
The Silver Warriors tacked on two runs in the top of the third inning to give themselves a nine-run cushion. Guilderland countered with three runs of its own in the bottom half of the third, but Niskayuna pitcher Cole Hedden settled down and allowed only one more run in his six innings of work. Hedden also struck out eight batters.
Jacob Hand tripled, singled and drove in three runs to lead Niskayuna’s offense. Jimmy Joyce and Jack Murray each added a pair of hits.
Brenden Harris had a two-run double as part of Guilderland’s three-run rally in the bottom of the third inning.
Niskayuna improved its league record to 7-0, while Guilderland dropped to 5-1.
