Bethlehem scored six runs in the first inning on its way to an 8-3 victory over Shaker Thursday, April 25, in a Suburban Council softball game.
Pitcher Anna Cleary allowed two earned runs in 5.2 innings and belted a two-run homer in the first inning for the Lady Eagles. Clare Boegel had three hits and scored two runs, and Abby Campbell added a two-run double in the fifth innings.
Emmie Gilmore led Shaker with a double, two singles and two RBI. Sam Hardwick pitched six innings for the Blue Bison.
Bethlehem entered Thursday’s game off a 5-4 victory over Guilderland Wednesday, April 24. The Lady Eagles scored the winning run on a pop fly that dropped in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Cleary earned the victory in relief of Aurora Legace, who allowed two runs in her four innings of work. Cleary scattered five hits and allowed two runs over her three innings in the circle.
Boegel and Campbell each had RBI doubles for Bethlehem. Campbell also drove in the tying run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly.
