Girls lacrosse: Averill Park ends brief skid with victory over Colonie

Following consecutive losses to Columbia and Ballston Spa, Averill Park picked up a 21-10 victory over Colonie Monday, May 6, in a Suburban Council girls lacrosse game.

Julia Foster and Mia Tessitore each struck for five goals, and Anita Reitano contributed four goals and three assists for the Warriors. Julia Gelder added a hat trick and two assists.

Sophia Thompson tallied three times, and goalie Abigail Wagner stopped 16 shots for Colonie. Wagner also contributed a goal and two assists, and Rachel Roemer netted a pair of goals.

Elsewhere in the Suburban Council, Bethlehem eased past Albany 27-0. Seven players registered multi-goal games for the Lady Eagles.

In the Foothills Council, Johnstown built a 10-3 halftime lead and sailed past South Glens Falls 16-6. Maddie Etherton scored eight goals, including her 100th career tally, to lead the Lady Bills. Emily Fleming chipped in with two goals and four assists, and Taryn Ringer provided a hat trick. Emma Bovair tallied three times for South Glens Falls.

Glens Falls defeated Amsterdam 25-17 in a high-scoring contest. Kayla Quirk and Phoebe Fox netted eight goals apiece to lead the Indians to victory. Kayli Hoefs had an eight-goal performance for Amsterdam.

Schuylerville handled Greenwich 18-3 in another Foothills Council game. Eliza Barton led the Black Horses with a seven-goal afternoon. Faith Hewitt tallied twice for the Witches.

Albany Academy for Girls edged Scotia-Glenville 10-8 in a non-league contest. Sarah Richardson paced the Bears with a five-goal performance, while Rebecca Carpenter notched a hat trick for the Tartans.
