The state’s top-ranked Class A public school boys lacrosse team received the top seed for the Section 2 playoffs Friday, May 17.
Undefeated Niskayuna (15-0) will face No. 8 Colonie in Saturday’s quarterfinal round. The winner of that game meets either No. 4 Saratoga Springs or No. 5 Shaker in the semifinals Tuesday, May 21.
Niskayuna is currently ranked second in the New York State Sportswriters Association poll – trailing only No. 1 Chaminade from New York City’s Catholic High School Athletic Association. Massapequa from Section 8 (Long Island) is the second-highest rated New York State Public High School Athletic Association team in the poll at No. 4. Bethlehem (13-2) – ranked 16th in this week’s poll – is the other ranked Section 2 team in Class A.
Ballston Spa (Class B), LaSalle (Class C) and Schuylerville (Class D) are the other No. 1 seeds in the Section 2 boys lacrosse playoffs. Ballston Spa is ranked 13th among Class B teams in the state poll, while Schuylerville is rated 10th in the Class D poll.
