LaSalle outscored Glens Falls 7-1 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 16-12 victory in the Section 2 Class C boys lacrosse final Friday, May 24, at Schuylerville High School.
Glens Falls jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the first quarter, but LaSalle kept the score close until it had the opportunity to pull in front over the final 12 minutes.
Sebastian Geiber tallied eight times and added three assists, and goaltender Mike Carlow had 14 saves for LaSalle, which won its first Section 2 title in more than a decade. Sam Haita contributed four goals and three assists, and Nick Zalucky chipped in with a hat trick and three helpers.
Sam Hogan scored four goals to lead Glens Falls. David Barclay, Hogan Fox and Noah Girard also had multi-goal games.
In the Class D final at Schuylerville, the homestanding Black Horses eased past Johnstown 16-2. Schuylerville led 11-0 at halftime, and it never looked back in winning another Sectional championship.
Kyle Burnham struck for four goals, and Noah Rourke had a hat trick and four assists for Schuylerville. Justin Carte added three goals and three helpers in the victory.
Adam Horan and Damion Waight tallied for Johnstown.
At Columbia High School, Niskayuna pulled away for a 10-6 victory over Bethlehem in the Class A final. Brock Behrman led the way with a hat trick for the Silver Warriors, who won their 17th Section 2 title between Class A and Class B. Gabe Nish chipped in with a four-point evening (two goals, two assists). Liam Ferris paced Bethlehem with three goals and an assist.
In the Class B final, Ballston Spa defeated Route 50 rival Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 13-7. Demetri Yerou notched four goals to lead a balanced attack for the Scotties. Ethan Thomas and Peyton Walsh each added hat tricks.
J.D. Townsend paced the Spartans with three goals, while Caden and Darien LaPietro scored the other four goals for their team.
