Saratoga Springs’ Nolan Crowley carded a two-day score of 151 to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Boys Golf Championships Monday, June 3, at the Robert Trent Jones Course on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca.
Crowley entered Day 2 in a tie for first place with Somers’ Nathan Han with a Day 1 total of 71. Han continued his strong play, carding a score of 70 to earn the state title, while Crowley dropped back after carding a score of 80.
Crowley was one of three Section 2 golfers to finish in the top 20. Saratoga Springs’ teammate AJ Cavotta and Shenendehowa’s Paul Goetz were two out of five golfers who tied for 16th place with a two-day total of 155. Aidan Fitzgerald (Albany Academy), Matt Smith (Hoosick Falls), Jack Manning (Shenendehowa), Ryan Bloomer (Hoosick Falls), Aidan Seery (Guilderland) and Trevor Wolfe (Ichabod Crane) also competed for Section 2 at the state tournament.
The Section 2 team placed sixth at states with a two-day total of 1,116. Section 1 claimed the state title with a score of 1,058 – 46 strokes ahead of runner-up Section 3.
