Three Holy Trinity football players receive first team All-State honors

Three Holy Trinity players were selected as first-team All-State football players by the New York State Sportswriters Association Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Quarterback Joe Tortello was named to the first team offense in Class B, as was all-purpose player Noah Foster. Linebacker Nacier Hundley was selected a first team defensive player.

Glens Falls running back Griffin Woodell and Schuylerville defensive lineman Jack Koval also received first team honors in Class B. Two more Glens Falls players – all purpose back Aalijah Simpson and defensive lineman Nick Danahy – were received second-team honors, along with Ichabod Crane wide receiver Haydon Broockmann and Schalmont linebacker David Leon.

Other Section 2 athletes receiving All-State honors in Class B include:

OL Lucas Woodcock (Schuylerville) – fourth team
RB Jacob Vanderhoof (Schuylerville) – fifth team

DB Kyle Burnham (Schuylerville) – honorable mention

In Class C, Stillwater’s Brian McNeil (linebacker) and James Galarneau (defensive back) received first team all-state honors, as did Mechanicville placekicker Jake LaFountain. Stillwater running back Mason Seymour and Greenwich placekicker Chris Albrecht were selected to the second team offense. Linebackers Hunter Day (Cambridge/Salem) and Nick McNulty (Watervliet) were named to the second team defense, along with defensive back Gavin Esposito (Voorheesville).

Watervliet running back Kareem Duncan, Greenwich all-purpose back Luke Pemrick and Granville offensive lineman Alix Prouty were named to the Class C third team offense. Cambridge/Salem’s Jordan Dean and Tamarac’s Jonah Rescott were third team defensive selections at linebacker, and Greenwich’s Jesse Kuzmich earned third team honors at defensive back.

Defensive linemen Jaron Griffin (Warrensburg/North Warren) and Sean King (Chatham) were named to the first team defense in Class D. Warrensburg/North Warren offensive players Jesse Griffin (running back) and Dylan Winchell (all-purpose) were named to the second team offense, as was Chatham wide receiver Jayshawn Williams. Linebackers Tristen Hitchcock (Warrensburg/North Warren) and Brendan Covey (Whitehall) were chosen as second team defensive players.

Chatham quarterback Casey Sitzer, running back Quinten Kastner and linebacker Thomas VanTassel were honorable mentions for the Class D all-state team, as was Warrensburg/North Warren linebacker Zach Shambo.
