Saratoga Springs’ Nolan Crowley carded a two-day score of 151 to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Boys Golf Championships Monday, June 3, at the Robert Trent Jones Course on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca.
Crowley entered Day 2 in a tie for first place with Somers’ Nathan Han with a Day 1 total of 71. Han continued his strong play, carding a score of 70 to earn the state title, while Crowley dropped back after carding a score of 80. COPAKE – Taconic Hills recorded a 12-0 sweep against Cairo-Durham Monday, Sept. 24, in a Patroon Conference golf match at Copake Country Club.
Madison Bentley won his head-to-head match against Josh Matteson to lead the Titans. Trevor New defeated Eugene Somersault, while Maya Manan-Singh defeated Phoebe Cunningham.
Val Camacho and Ben Hunter also won their head-to-head matches for Taconic Hills.
FREEHOLD – For the second day in a row, the Taconic Hills golf team defeated Coxsackie-Athens – this time, by an 11-1 score Thursday, Sept. 20, on the Indians’ home course at Thunderheart Country Club.
Madison Bentley led the Titans with a 1-over par round of 38, as he defeated Tristen Gerrian in their head-to-head match. It was also the ninth time in 10 matches that Bentley recorded a Sectional qualifying score.
Trevor New, Maya Manan-Singh, Ben Hunter and Skylar Waterhouse also won head-to-head matches for Taconic Hills (7-3). Anya Josberger tied Val Camacho for Coxsackie-Athens.
COPAKE – Taconic Hills won all of its head-to-head matches to sweep Coxsackie-Athens 12-0 Wednesday, Sept. 19, in a Patroon Conference golf match at Copake Country Club.
Madison Bentley earned medalist honors with a 4-over-par 40 for the Titans. Bentley defeated Tristen Gerrian in their head-to-head match.
Trevor New, Maya Manan-Singh, Val Camacho, Griffin Haskin and Skylar Waterhouse also won their matches for Taconic Hills. Haskin carded a nine-hole round of 47, and New added a round of 48.
AVERILL PARK – Four golfers recorded 9-hole rounds of less than 40 to lead Saratoga Springs to a 239-270 Suburan Council victory over Averill Park Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Burden Lake Country Club.
Clarkie Carroll led the Blue Streaks with a 2-over par round of 37. Nolan Crowley carded a 9-hole score of 38, while Brendan Joyce and Will Braxton each added rounds of 39.
Shawn Cornelius finished with a 4-over par 39, and Charlie Dunigan added a round of 41 for Averill Park.
COPAKE – Maple Hill pulled out an 8-4 victory over Taconic Hills in a Patroon Conference golf match Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Copake Country Club.
John Russell defeated Madison Bentley with a low 9-hole round of 43 to lead the Wildcats. Jeff Huskie, Kyle Tedford and Erick Burns also won their individual matches for Maple Hill.
Trevor New defeated Austin Barden, and Maya Manan-Singh defeated Bella Maruca for Taconic Hills.
TROY – Catholic Central defeated Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk 179-201 in a Colonial Council golf match Monday, Sept. 17.
Jack Mattfield led the Crusaders with a 4-over par 40. Mike Sullivan carded a nine-hole round of 43 for Catholic Central.
COPAKE – The Taconic Hills golf team dominated Greenville 11-1 Thursday, Sept. 13, in a Patroon Conference match at Copake Country Club.
Madison Bentley shot his sixth consecutive Sectional qualifying score on his way to defeating Trey Smith in their head-to-head match for the Titans (4-2). Bentley needs two more scores of 8-over par or less to earn a berth into next month’s Section 2 Championships. Smith shot a Sectional qualifying score for the Spartans.
Trevor New, Valentino Camacho, Griffin Haskin and Ben Hunter also won their head-to-head matches for Taconic Hills. Maya Mannan-Singh tied Greenville’s Ryan Arp.
COPAKE – The Hudson golf team improved its record to 5-0 with an 8-4 victory over Taconic Hills Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Copake Country Club.
Taconic Hills’ Madison Bentley shot an even par score of 36 to win his head-to-head match-up with Pat Taylor and earn a berth in the Section 2 Championships. Trevor New also won his head-to-head match with Matt Bowes for the Titans (3-2).
Brady and Jake McDonald each won individual matches for Hudson, as did Dan Zito and Matt Gowers. Brady McDonald led the Blue Hawks with a nine-hole score of 47.
TROY – The Schalmont golf team defeated Catholic Central 187-191 in a Colonial Council match Friday, Sept. 7.
Lucas Amadore led the Sabres with a nine-hole round of 41. Jack Mattfield carded a score of 44 for the Crusaders.
