BRUNSWICK – Eight Tamarac seniors signed their letters of intent to continue their athletic careers in college at a ceremony in the high school library Tuesday, May 14.

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Christian Brothers Academy’s Connor Toomey and Bethlehem’s Christian Sauer were among a group of Section 2 rowers who excelled at the New York State High School Championships May 11 and 12 on Fish Creek.
Competing for Saratoga Rowing Association, Toomey and Sauer defended their state title in the Varsity Men’s Pair with a winning time of 5:13.4 and helped SRA take first place in the Varsity Men’s Four with a time of 5:02.4. In the process, Toomey and Sauer qualified for the national championships, which take place June 7-9 in Sarasota, Fla. Guilderland edged Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake by half a point to win the girls team title at the Queensbury Invitational track and field meet Saturday, May 11. Guilderland finished with 93.5 points, while Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake placed second with 93 points.
The Lady Dutch thrived in the relay events, as they won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter events and placed second in the 400-meter relay. Kate Scanlan and Tyler Howard ran on both of Guilderland’s winning relays. Makiya Donnelly added an individual victory in the high jump. GALWAY – Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning to pull away for a 5-2 victory over Galway Wednesday, May 8, in a Western Athletic Conference baseball game.

DELMAR – Bethlehem overcame an early 2-0 deficit to defeat Niskayuna 14-2 on Senior Night Thursday, May 9, in a Suburban Council softball game.
Clare Boegel singled home the first Lady Eagles’ run in the bottom of the first inning, and Haley Nash followed with a two-run double to put the home team ahead 3-2. Nick Szesnat tossed a two-hit shutout to lead Shaker to a 6-0 victory over Shenendehowa Wednesday, May 8, in a Suburban Council baseball game.

Bethlehem took a 4-2 halftime lead and held on for an 8-7 victory over Shenendehowa Tuesday, May 7, in a battle of two of the top Suburban Council girls lacrosse teams.
Lauren Riker struck for four goals to lead the Lady Eagles, who moved into sole possession of second place in the league standings. Lindsey Ayres and Paige Halliday each contributed a pair of goals, and goaltender Amanda Koch stopped seven shots.
