Colonial Council girls soccer coaches name Ava Panto Player of the Year

Academy of the Holy Names junior Ava Panto was named the Player of the Year when the Colonial Council announced its girls soccer all-stars Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Panto scored a team-high 38 goals and added eight assists to help Holy Names win the Colonial Council Liberty Division and the Section 2 Class B titles.

Four more Holy Names players – Megan Marini, Bella Tronco, Marissa DeMartino and Grace Field – were named first team all-stars. Section 2 Class B girls soccer playoffs: Schalmont, Voorheesville among opening round winners

Five players had multi-goal games for No. 2 Schalmont in a 15-0 victory over No. 15 Corinth in the opening round of the Section 2 Class B girls soccer playoffs Thursday, Oct. 18.

Isabella Amoroso recorded a hat trick and two assists, while Sofia Cassano contributed two goals and two assists for the Sabres (15-1-1), ranked No. 4 among Class B teams in the New York State Sportswriters Association poll. Jules Monlea, Ashley Cirilla and Chloe Schaffer all tallied twice, and Isabella Almodovar added three assists. Colonial Council girls soccer: Holy Names pulls away from Albany Academy; Mohonasen shuts out Cobleskill-Richmondville

Academy of the Holy Names jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 4-1 victory over Albany Academy for Girls Monday, Sept. 17, in a Colonial Council girls soccer game.

Libby Harris and Marissa DeMartino scored off Megan Marini assists in the first half for Holy Names. Ava Panto tallied twice in the second half – one off an assist from Sam Germano, and the other off a pass by DeMartino.
