BUFFALO – Queensbury dominated from start to finish to defeat Section 1 champion John Jay-Cross River 4-0 Saturday, March 9, in the state hockey Division 2 semifinals at HarborCenter.
The Spartans out-shot John Jay-Cross River 30-9 over the first two periods, and goaltender Owen Smith stopped all 17 shots he faced to help Queensbury advance to Sunday’s final against Skaneateles (Section 3). Queensbury dominated at both ends of the ice to defeat Niskayuna/Schenectady/Albany 3-0 Saturday, Jan. 19, in a Capital District High School Hockey League game at Union College.
Brayden Ordway, Jack Randall and Mason Wildermuth all tallied for the Spartans, who out-shot the Mohawks 42-13. Goalie Tony Cotugno kept the Mohawks in the game by stopping 39 shots.

Bethlehem moved back into first place with an 8-3 victory over the Capital District Jets in a Capital District High School Hockey League game Friday, Jan. 11, at the Albany County Hockey Facility in Colonie.
The Eagles (6-2-0 league, 11-2-0 overall) scored the first three goals of the game and then used Michael Bievenue’s four-goal run in the third period to put the game out of Capital District’s reach.
Connor Carroll contributed two goals and three assists for Bethlehem, which moved one standings point ahead of Albany Academy for first place. It was a case of quality over quantity as Albany Academy defeated Saratoga Springs 5-2 Friday, Dec. 21, in a Capital District High School Hockey League game.
The Blue Streaks out-shot the Cadets 31-17, but the Cadets (5-0-0 league, 5-1-0 overall) made those shots count as they remained undefeated in league play.
Anthony Sericolo led a balanced Albany Academy attack with a goal and two assists, while goalie Dan Guy had 29 saves. Dan Moshier, Jameson McDonald and Jack Ripley also scored goals for the Cadets.
