Colonial Council boys basketball: Voorheesville soars past Cohoes; Lansingburgh fends off LaSalle

Voorheesville went on a 27-11 run over the course of the second and third quarters to defeat Cohoes 51-35 Friday, Dec. 14, in a Colonial Council boys basketball game.

Ian Owens had 15 points, and Luke Palmer contributed 12 points for the Blackbirds, who did not allow a Cohoes player to break double digits in the scoring column. Ivan Brajac scored six points for the Tigers.

In another defensive battle, Lansingburgh fended off LaSalle 44-34. The Knights outscored the Cadets 10-6 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the 10-point win.

WATERVLIET – Watervliet outscored Cohoes 47-28 over the course of the second and third quarters on its way to a 70-56 victory Tuesday, Dec. 11, in a Colonial Council boys basketball game.

J.J. Chestnut drained four three-pointers on his way to a 20-point night for the Cannoneers. Derrick Benson contributed 17 points, while Messiah Mallory added 13 points.

Colonial Council boys basketball: Cobleskill-Richmondville storms to victory over Cohoes

Cobleskill-Richmondville outscored Cohoes 24-5 in the third quarter on its way to a 56-39 victory over the Tigers Friday, Dec. 7, in a Colonial Council boys basketball game.

Andrew Tracey led the charge for the Bulldogs (2-1 league, 3-1 overall) with 26 points, including nine points during the decisive third quarter run. Pat Nichols contributed all seven of his points in the third quarter.

Anthony Hicks had 13 points in the first half for Cohoes, but he was held scoreless in the second half. Kyle Milligan added eight points for the Tigers (0-3, 1-3).

Colonial Council boys basketball: Duncan Tallman reaches 1,000-point plateau for Mohonasen; Catholic Central defeats Cohoes

Duncan Tallman joined the 1,000-point club to lead Mohonasen to a 71-27 victory over Ichabod Crane Tuesday, Dec. 4, in a Colonial Council boys basketball game in Rotterdam.

Needing 21 points to hit the mark entering Tuesday’s game, Tallman drained four three-pointers on his way to a 27-point performance. Chase Monroe contributed nine points for the Mighty Warriors, who went on a 23-3 run in the third quarter to put the game out of Ichabod Crane’s reach.

Zach Kennedy had seven points for Ichabod Crane.

In another Colonial Council contest, Catholic Central built a 14-point halftime lead on its way to a 47-34 victory over Cohoes. Jackson Brown tallied 14 points, and Al’lon Walters chipped in with 13 points for the Crusaders. Troy Snyder netted 10 points for the Tigers.
