Daniel Leach recorded a hat trick to lead Mayfield past Schoharie 4-2 Friday, Oct. 5, in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer game at Gloversville High School.

Western Athletic Conference boys soccer: OESJ overpowers Schoharie

Two players recorded hat tricks to lead Oppenheim-Ephretah-St. Johnsville (OESJ) to a 7-2 victory over Schoharie Monday, Oct. 1, in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer game.

Jack Brundage and Chinnakrit Aroontheerapoj each struck for three goals to help the Wolves overpower the Indians. Mason Snell also tallied, and goalkeeper Adan Vasquez made five saves for OESJ.

Derek Dietz and Daniel Bernhardt tallied for Schoharie, and goalies Bailey Smart and Eddie Bond stopped a combined total of six shots.

Western Athletic Conference boys soccer: Mekeel Christian defeats Schoharie

SCOTIA – Mekeel Christian Academy overcame a 2-1 halftime deficit to defeat Schoharie 4-2 Wednesday, Sept. 12, in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer game.

Daniel McCarty scored the go-ahead goal off a feed from Len’s Lima, who netted the equalizer earlier in the second half, for the Lions. McCarty added a late goal on a long shot that eluded Schoharie goalkeeper Eddie Bond.

Brian Dean also tallied, and goalie Ilan Martuscello stopped 15 of Schoharie’s 17 shots for Mekeel Christian. Quin Barton scored twice for Schoharie, and Bond made seven saves.

Boys soccer: Cherry Valley defeats Schoharie in overtime

SCHOHARIE – Jeb Magruder’s second goal of the game gave Cherry Valley a 3-2 overtime victory over Schoharie in a non-league boys soccer game Saturday, Sept. 8.

Mohammed Elkadim scored off a feed from Noah Fagnani to give Schoharie a 1-0 lead, but Luke Dubben tallied a short time later to tie the score at 1-1 for Cherry Valley. Magruder gave the visitors a 2-1 lead in the second half before Fagnani tied the game off an assist by Derek Dietz.

Schoharie goalkeeper Eddie Bond made eight saves, while Cherry Valley netminder Luke Bartlett stopped seven shots.
