DELMAR – The Bethlehem softball team picked up its ninth Suburban Council victory of the season in its home finale with a 3-2 win against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Friday, May 17.
The visiting Spartans took a two-run lead in the top of the second inning, but with runners on first and second base and one out, the Lady Eagles shut the door. Pitcher Anna Cleary induced a ground ball leading to 4-6 putout, and then she struck out the next batter to strand runners at first and third.
Bethlehem struck back in the bottom of the second inning. Clare Boegel led off with single to center, and Haley Nash was walked. With one out, Aurora Lagace sent a fly ball over the reach of the left fielder for a double, scoring Boegel. Cleary followed with a sacrifice fly that drove in Nash to tie the game at 2-2.

DELMAR – Bethlehem overcame an early 2-0 deficit to defeat Niskayuna 14-2 on Senior Night Thursday, May 9, in a Suburban Council softball game.
Clare Boegel singled home the first Lady Eagles’ run in the bottom of the first inning, and Haley Nash followed with a two-run double to put the home team ahead 3-2. Bethlehem jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning and cruised past Shaker 9-1 Thursday, May 2, in a Suburban Council softball game.
Clare Boegel came close to hitting for the cycle for the Lady Eagles. Boegel finished the game with a single, a double, a triple and four RBI. Colonie’s Nino Seidou-Bakari took first place in the boys Red Division weight throw at the Ocean Breeze High School Invitational indoor track and field meet Saturday, Jan. 26, on Staten Island.
Seidou-Bakari posted a distance of 61 feet, 9 inches to win his division at the regional meet. Josiah Kemp contributed a third-place finish in the Red Division 55-meter hurdles (7.58 seconds) and a fifth-place finish in the Red Division 55-meter dash (6.62 seconds) for the Garnet Raiders, and the Colonie boys 1,600-meter relay team placed fifth. Nathanial LaSorba added a third-place finish in the boys White Division 800-meter race with a time of 2:03.01.
Shenendehowa twin sisters Chidera and Chidalu Anameze had top-10 finishes in field events at Ocean Breeze. Chidera took second place in the girls Red Division weight throw with a distance of 46 feet, 3 inches, while Chidalu placed third with a throw of 44 feet, 2.75 inches. In the Red Division shot put, Chidera finished sixth with a throw of 37 feet, 6.25 inches, and Chidalu was eighth with a throw of 37 feet, 2 inches.
