All eight home teams won their Section 2 Class C boys basketball playoff games Tuesday, Feb. 19.
Top-seeded Lake George had little trouble with No. 16 Cambridge, as the Warriors prevailed 105-53. New York’s top-ranked Class C squad jumped out to a 35-3 lead in the first quarter, and it never looked back in advancing to the quarterfinals.
Mason Flatley poured in 28 points, and Chris Becker contributed 21 points for Lake George, which extended its state-best winning streak to 49 games. Ben Epler had 20 points, and Brian Hall added 17 points for Cambridge.
Up next for Lake George is Friday’s quarterfinal game against No. 8 Schoharie at Hudson Valley Community College after Schoharie edged No. 9 Stillwater 53-51. Shane Helmstadt scored 18 points for Schoharie, which built an 18-9 lead in the first quarter and fended off a Stillwater rally in the second half.
Brian McNeil netted 20 points, and James Galarneau added 12 points for Stillwater.

Hoosick Falls outscored Tamarac 23-10 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 65-52 victory Friday, Feb. 1, in a Wasaren League boys basketball game.
Jon Kempf and Max Kipp made a combined total of seven three-pointers to help the Panthers pull out the road win. Kempf finished with 22 points, and Kipp contributed 18 points, while Tristan Williams added 19 points for Hoosick Falls.

GLENS FALLS – The second day of the Zero Gravity Slam North-South Classic boys basketball showcase took place Sunday, Jan. 27, at Cool Insuring Arena.
The highlight was reserved for the final game of the day-long showcase, as Glens Falls’ Joseph Girard III pursued another milestone against Foothills Council rival. Girard scored his 4,000th career point on a free throw in the third quarter as part of a 52-point performance in the Indians’ 78-74 victory over the Running Rams.
Two other major match-ups fell a bit short of generating much in the way of suspense. Albany Academy downed Park School of Buffalo 67-44 in a showdown between the state’s top two-ranked Class A teams, and Lake George stormed out to an 18-7 lead on its way to a 55-30 victory over Hoosick Falls in a battle between the state’s No. 1 and No. 4-ranked Class C squads. Stillwater outscored Greenwich 23-13 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 66-56 victory Friday, Jan. 25, in a Wasaren League boys basketball game.
Brian McNeil poured in 31 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Warriors. Scott Travis knocked down a pair of three-pointers as part of a 17-point night for Stillwater.

Hoosic Valley went on a 13-5 run in the third quarter to take the lead and held on for a 46-38 victory over Cambridge Friday, Jan. 18, in a Wasaren League boys basketball game in Schaghticoke.

Tamarac jumped out to a 46-15 halftime lead and cruised to a 91-32 victory over Berlin in a Wasaren League boys basketball game Wednesday, Jan. 16.
Anthony Ciampolillo led the Bengals with 23 points, while Bo Catherwood contributed 19 points. Dan Honsinger added 10 points for Tamarac.

Tamarac outscored Saratoga Central Catholic 24-10 in the second quarter to pull away for a 74-52 victory over the Saints Friday, Jan. 11, in a Wasaren League boys basketball game.
Brandon Napoli netted 18 points, and Anthony Ciampolillo contributed 12 points for Tamarac (5-2 league, 8-3 overall). Dan Honsinger was one of two players to score nine points for the Bengals, but it was his defensive work that made the difference as he limited Spa Catholic’s leading scorer, Jordan Catone, to two points.

Mohonasen and Guilderland used to be neighboring Suburban Council rivals until Mohonasen moved to the Colonial Council this season.
The boys basketball teams from the two schools kept their rivalry going this season, with Mohonasen getting the better of Guilderland 77-41 Saturday, Jan. 5.
Guilderland kept the game close through the first quarter, but Mohonasen used a 22-7 run in the second quarter to build a 37-17 halftime lead. The Mighty Warriors continued their onslaught with a 24-point third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Duncan Tallman sank six three-pointers on his way to a 28-point afternoon for Mohonasen. Chase Monroe contributed 17 points, while Nicholas Richmond, Drew Coelho and Shawn Gillisslee all added eight points.

After winning three games in 2017-18, the Tamarac boys basketball team continued its ascent of the Wasaren League standings with a 70-63 victory over Mechanicville Friday, Jan. 4.
Jacob DeFreest led five players in double digits with 17 points for the Bengals, who improved to 4-1 in the league and 7-2 overall. Dalton Maxon had a double-double with 11 points and 18 rebounds, while Bo Catherwood and Frank Zotto each added 13 points. Anthony Ciampolillo chipped in with 11 points.

Mechanicville built a 19-point lead by the end of the third quarter and cruised to a 61-49 victory over Cohoes Thursday, Dec. 20, in a non-league boys basketball game.
Nick Billert scored 16 points, and Devin Garland contributed 11 points for Mechanicville, which held a 31-20 halftime lead. Ivan Brajac netted 13 points, and Troy Snyder added 12 points for Cohoes.
In another non-league contest involving a Wasaren League team, Hoosic Valley defeated Galway 33-30. Isaac Carlo and Zach Ryan each scored nine points to lead Hoosic Valley in a defensive struggle. Mike Sowle had 10 points for Galway.
