Colonial Council girls soccer coaches name Ava Panto Player of the Year

Academy of the Holy Names junior Ava Panto was named the Player of the Year when the Colonial Council announced its girls soccer all-stars Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Panto scored a team-high 38 goals and added eight assists to help Holy Names win the Colonial Council Liberty Division and the Section 2 Class B titles.

Four more Holy Names players – Megan Marini, Bella Tronco, Marissa DeMartino and Grace Field – were named first team all-stars. Colonial Council girls soccer: Schalmont eases past Ichabod Crane

ROTTERDAM – Eight different players scored goals for Schalmont in a 9-0 victory over Ichabod Crane Thursday, Oct. 11, in a Colonial Council girls soccer game.

Sofia Cassano had two goals and an assist to lead a balanced Sabre attack. Davia Rossi and Jules Monlea each contributed a goal and an assist, while Eden Messemer, Isabella Amoroso, Kasey Dillenbeck, Isabella Almodovar and Teghan Older all added goals. Kelly Sanders, Ashley Cirilla, Sophia Pasquarella and Simone Cassano chipped in with assists.

Cali Ringwood stopped 12 shots on goal for Ichabod Crane.

Colonial Council girls soccer: Schalmont defeats Catholic Central; Mohonasen escapes Lansingburgh

Schalmont used a balanced attack to defeat Catholic Central 3-1 Monday, Oct. 1, in a Colonial Council girls soccer game.

Tuesday roundup: Voorheesville girls soccer shuts out Cobleskill-Richmondville; Catholic Central boys soccer handles Hoosic Valley

The Voorheesville girls soccer team began its Colonial Council season by shutting out Cobleskill-Richmondville 5-0 Tuesday, Aug. 28.

After taking a 1-0 lead on Rebecca Gregg’s first-half goal, the Blackbirds broke things open with a four-goal second half. Jayden Kelly netted two of the goals, while Kaelyn Lawson and Morgan Keith tallied the other two.

Voorheesville outshot Cobleskill-Richmondville 21-2. Bulldogs’ goaltender Sydney Dymes made 16 saves.

Elsewhere in the Colonial Council, Schalmont scored three straight goals to defeat Catholic Central 5-3, and Academy of Holy Names defeated Ichabod Crane 5-0. Five different players scored goals for Holy Names in its victory.

In the Foothills Council, South Glens Falls defeated Johnstown 5-1, Scotia-Glenville shut out Schuylerville 7-0, Queensbury handled Amsterdam 5-0, Broadalbin-Perth defeated Hudson Falls 3-0 and Gloversville downed Glens Falls 8-1.

Greenville defeated Taconic Hills 3-0 in a Patroon Conference contest. Meghan Misuraca, Morgan Whitbeck and Isabella Trostle scored the Spartans’ goals, and Bailie Kappel added an assist.

Boys soccer

Catholic Central eased past Hoosic Valley 8-0 in a non-league boys soccer game in Troy.

Lucas Kania and Aidan Brown each scored two goals for the Crusaders. Joe Piperata, Peter Manly, Liam McDonald and Colby Beach also tallied, and Daniel Callaghan added a pair of assists.

Hoosic Valley goalkeepers James Robert and Isaac Carco combined to stop six CCHS shots.

Girls volleyball

Greenville began the girls volleyball season with a 3-0 sweep against Albany Leadership Academy. The Spartans won their three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-12 and 25-8.
