Nick Szesnat tossed a two-hit shutout to lead Shaker to a 6-0 victory over Shenendehowa Wednesday, May 8, in a Suburban Council baseball game.

Jake Reinisch hit an RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Shenendehowa a 4-3 victory over Columbia Monday, May 6, in a Suburban Council baseball game.
The Plainsmen took a 1-0 lead on Ben Lavery’s RBI single in the bottom of the third inning, but the Blue Devils plated three runs in the top of the fifth to pull ahead 3-1. Ryan Strevell plated the go-ahead run for Columbia with an RBI single.
Lavery hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull Shen within one run, and Thomas Krill tied the game with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning. GUILDERLAND CENTER – The Shaker boys soccer team closed out its Suburban Council regular season schedule with a 3-1 victory over Guilderland Saturday, Oct. 13.
The Blue Bison struck early on a muddy Guilderland field when Hassan Alfadhil headed in Stephen Guidi’s corner kick three minutes into the first half. Zaheer Irani scored off a rebound five minutes later to give Shaker a 2-0 advantage.
Ian Wu capitalized on a deflected shot to score Shaker’s third goal of the afternoon early in the second half. Brandon Ford got Guilderland on the scoreboard by converting a penalty kick.
Justin Osborn and Rohan Bagchi made a combined total of seven saves in goal for Shaker.
Tuesday’s rain wreaked havoc on the Suburban Council boys soccer schedule, as only two of the five scheduled games were reported as having been completed, while two others were officially postponed.
In Latham, Shaker (7-2-2 league, 8-3-2 overall) edged Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 1-0, while Christian Brothers Academy (9-1-1, 10-1-1) defeated Troy 2-0 in Colonie. Continue reading “Suburban Council boys soccer: Shaker, CBA win in the rain”
LATHAM – The Shaker boys soccer team pulled out a 2-0 Suburban Council victory over crosstown rival Colonie Saturday, Sept. 15.
Ian Wu put home Zaheer Irani’s free kick midway through the first half to give the Blue Bison a 1-0 lead. Neither team generated many shots on goal the rest of the half, which allowed Shaker to carry its advantage into halftime.
Shaker doubled its lead one minute into the second half. Hassan Alfadhil sent the ball down the wing to Stephen Guidi, who crossed it into the Colonie penalty box where Irani knocked it inside the back post for a 2-0 advantage.
Colonie had several scoring chances in the second half, but Shaker goalkeeper Justin Osborn stopped all of them to maintain the shutout. Osborn finished with four saves.
