Colonial Council girls soccer coaches name Ava Panto Player of the Year

Academy of the Holy Names junior Ava Panto was named the Player of the Year when the Colonial Council announced its girls soccer all-stars Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Panto scored a team-high 38 goals and added eight assists to help Holy Names win the Colonial Council Liberty Division and the Section 2 Class B titles.

Four more Holy Names players – Megan Marini, Bella Tronco, Marissa DeMartino and Grace Field – were named first team all-stars. Section 2 Class A girls soccer playoffs: Mohonasen shuts out Gloversville in opening round; Lansingburgh, Scotia-Glenville and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake advance

Liv Raucci scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to lead No. 6 Mohonasen to a 3-0 victory over No. 11 Gloversville in the opening round of the Section 2 Class A girls soccer playoffs Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Rotterdam.

Matti Muller also tallied for the Mighty Warriors, and Hailey Dunsmore contributed an assist.

Colonial Council girls soccer: Holy Names cruises past Lansingburgh

ALBANY – Academy of the Holy Names turned on the afterburners in the second half to pull away for a 9-0 victory over Lansingburgh Friday, Oct. 12, in a Colonial Council girls soccer game.

Bella Tronco tallied twice in the second half on her way to recording a hat trick for Holy Names. Ava Panto tallied a goal in each half and contributed two assists, while Megan Marini registered a goal and three assists.

Marissa DeMartino, Riley Taylor and Grace Field also scored goals for Holy Names, which tallied six times in the second half. Goalkeepers Kathleen Harris and Megan Bell stopped a combined total of three shots.

Goalie Jillian Currier had 11 saves for Lansingburgh.

Schalmont used a balanced attack to defeat Catholic Central 3-1 Monday, Oct. 1, in a Colonial Council girls soccer game.

Colonial Council girls soccer: Bella Tronco leads Holy Names past Lansingburgh; Mohonasen doubles up Catholic Central

Bella Tronco scored two goals and added a pair of assists to lead Academy of Holy Names to a 7-0 victory over Lansingburgh in a Colonial Council girls soccer game Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Tronco scored unassisted in the first half and tallied on a second-half penalty kick for Holy Names. Ava Panto struck twice in the first half, and Megan Marini contributed a goal and an assist. Riley Taylor added a first half goal.

Colonial Council girls soccer: Holy Names shuts out Mohonasen; Schalmont defeats Lansingburgh

Academy of the Holy Names turned aside Colonial Council newcomer Mohonasen 2-0 in a girls soccer game Thursday, Sept. 6.

Libby Harris headed in Ava Panto’s cross in the first half to give Holy Names a 1-0 lead. Grace Field then scored off a pass from Bella Tronco in the second half to provide the insurance goal.
