Messiah Mallory and J.J. Chestnut combined to score 39 points to lead Watervliet to a 68-53 victory over Cohoes Tuesday, Feb. 5, in a Colonial Council boys basketball game.
Mallory did his damage near the basket as he poured in 20 points, while Chestnut made five three-pointers on his way to a 19-point night for the Cannoneers, who pulled away in the second half.

Shenendehowa used a 21-9 run in the third quarter to take control in a 60-50 victory over Ballston Spa Friday, Feb. 1, in a Suburban Council boys basketball game.
James Altenburger netted 18 points, and Jake Reinisch contributed 12 points on four three-pointers for the Plainsmen, who trailed 26-25 at halftime. Jayson Faizy drained six three-pointers as part of a 22-point night for the Scotties.
Elsewhere in the Suburban Council, Bethlehem survived a scare from Schenectady and defeated the Patriots 75-70 to remain undefeated. Erik Salo scored 19 points, Justin Barnes chipped in with 17 points and Michael Ortale added 13 points for the Eagles. Mohonasen overcame a four-point halftime deficit to edge Lansingburgh 59-55 in a Colonial Council boys basketball game Friday, Jan. 25.
Chase Monroe had 24 points for the Mighty Warriors, who outscored the Knights 21-14 in the third quarter. Shawn Gillisslee contributed 18 points, and Duncan Tallman added 13 points.

Watervliet fended off a fourth quarter rally to defeat LaSalle 69-60 Tuesday, Jan. 15, in a Colonial Council boys basketball game.
The Cannoneers went on a 22-10 run in the second quarter to take 34-26 halftime lead against the Cadets. Watervliet extended its advantage to 14 points in the third quarter before LaSalle made a late push to trim the deficit to under double digits.
