Section 2 football: A first glance at Class A

We will be taking a look at the alignments and schedules for all five football classes in Section 2 this week. To read about Class D, click here. To read about Class C, click here. To read about Class B, click here.

Very little changed for Class A when Section 2 revealed its alignments and schedules for the 2019 football season. Troy, Ballston Spa, LaSalle and Columbia remain in Class A for another season after dropping down from Class AA in 2018.

The lone addition is Albany, a Class AA team that is electing to play a Class A schedule. Albany has made this move before in an attempt to be more competitive during the regular season. Section 2 Class A football: Gloversville rallies past Mohonasen for first win of the season

Gloversville overcame a 20-14 halftime deficit to defeat Mohonasen 34-26 Friday, Oct. 5, in a Section 2 Class A football game.

Petey Raldiris’ 43-yard touchdown run in the third quarter gave the Huskies (1-5) a 21-20 lead. Gloversville added an 8-yard touchdown pass later in the period for some insurance. Continue reading “Section 2 Class A football: Gloversville rallies past Mohonasen for first win of the season”

Scenes from Section 2 Class A football: Scotia-Glenville blanks Mohonasen

ROTTERDAM – Scotia-Glenville’s defense made a second quarter touchdown pass stand in a 7-0 victory over Mohonasen Friday, Sept. 21, in a Section 2 Class A football game.

Tyler Ellwanger had two interceptions, including one late in the fourth quarter that ended a Mohonasen drive deep in Scotia-Glenville territory. Dante Coppola also picked off a pass.
