Colonial Council girls soccer coaches name Ava Panto Player of the Year

Academy of the Holy Names junior Ava Panto was named the Player of the Year when the Colonial Council announced its girls soccer all-stars Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Panto scored a team-high 38 goals and added eight assists to help Holy Names win the Colonial Council Liberty Division and the Section 2 Class B titles.

Four more Holy Names players – Megan Marini, Bella Tronco, Marissa DeMartino and Grace Field – were named first team all-stars. Section 2 Class A girls soccer playoffs: Mohonasen shuts out Gloversville in opening round; Lansingburgh, Scotia-Glenville and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake advance

Liv Raucci scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to lead No. 6 Mohonasen to a 3-0 victory over No. 11 Gloversville in the opening round of the Section 2 Class A girls soccer playoffs Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Rotterdam.

Matti Muller also tallied for the Mighty Warriors, and Hailey Dunsmore contributed an assist.

Colonial Council girls soccer: Two late goals lift Holy Names past Mohonasen

Two late goals helped Academy of the Holy Names escape Mohonasen with a 2-0 victory Tuesday, Oct. 9, in a Colonial Council girls soccer game.

The two teams were locked in a scoreless duel until Megan Marini curled a corner kick into the goal with 6:58 left in the second half. Bella Tronco then added an insurance goal with 1:02 remaining in regulation to seal Holy Names’ victory.

Mohonasen goalkeeper Megan Hart did her best to keep Holy Names off the scoreboard. Hart stopped 15 of the 17 shots on goal she faced. Holy Names netminder Kathleen Harris recorded five saves for the shutout.

Holy Names moved ahead of Schalmont in the New York State Sportswriters Association’s girls soccer poll this week, following its 2-1 victory over the previously top-ranked Sabres last week. Holy Names is ranked No. 3 in Class B, while Schalmont slips to No. 4.

Schalmont used a balanced attack to defeat Catholic Central 3-1 Monday, Oct. 1, in a Colonial Council girls soccer game.

Colonial Council girls soccer: Mohonasen overwhelms Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk

Liv Raucci’s four-goal, three-assist performance led Mohonasen to a 10-0 victory over Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Monday, Sept. 24, in a Colonial Council girls soccer game.

Izzy O’Clair contributed a hat trick and two assists for the Mighty Warriors. Hailey Dunsmore and Matti Swan each chipped in with a goal and an assist, and Courtney Bush added a goal.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk goalkeeper Makenzie Kunkle had nine saves.

Academy of the Holy Names jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 4-1 victory over Albany Academy for Girls Monday, Sept. 17, in a Colonial Council girls soccer game.

Libby Harris and Marissa DeMartino scored off Megan Marini assists in the first half for Holy Names. Ava Panto tallied twice in the second half – one off an assist from Sam Germano, and the other off a pass by DeMartino. Ava Panto’s two second-half goals helped Academy of the Holy Names defeat Voorheesville 3-1 Friday, Sept. 14, in a Colonial Council girls soccer game.

Panto headed in a cross from Julia Tronco, and she knocked in an insurance goal off a feed from Bella Tronco for Holy Names. Bella Tronco scored in the first half off an assist by Grace Field that gave Holy Names a 1-0 lead. Colonial Council girls soccer: Bella Tronco leads Holy Names past Lansingburgh; Mohonasen doubles up Catholic Central

Bella Tronco scored two goals and added a pair of assists to lead Academy of Holy Names to a 7-0 victory over Lansingburgh in a Colonial Council girls soccer game Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Tronco scored unassisted in the first half and tallied on a second-half penalty kick for Holy Names. Ava Panto struck twice in the first half, and Megan Marini contributed a goal and an assist. Riley Taylor added a first half goal.
