The Maple Hill girls basketball team took a 14-8 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in defeating Coxsackie-Athens 70-17 on the second day of the Patroon Conference Coaches vs. Cancer showcase Sunday, Jan. 27, at Columbia-Greene Community College.
Lauryn Smith led a balanced attack with 13 points for the Wildcats, who put the game out of reach by outscoring Coxsackie-Athens 56-9 over the final three quarters. Karsyn Berger contributed nine points, while three other Maple Hill players – Natasha Strock, Shannon Tacy and Abby Utter – all added eight points.
