Michael Bievenue continues to light the lamp at a high rate.
The Bethlehem junior forward scored six goals and added an assist to lead the Eagles to a 12-2 victory over the Capital District Jets Wednesday, Feb. 6, in a Capital District High School Hockey League game at the Bethlehem Area YMCA.
It was the second consecutive six-goal game for Bievenue, who now leads the CDHSHL with 45 goals and 67 points. Bievenue has scored at least two goals in seven of his last eight games and has registered hat tricks six times during this most recent stretch of games. Hunter Caola’s goal with 7.5 seconds left in regulation gave LaSalle a 3-2 victory over the Capital District Jets Saturday, Dec. 22, in a Capital District High School Hockey League game at the Albany County Hockey Facility.
Noah Savastio tallied off an assist from Scott Matson with 5:03 remaining in the third period to tie the score at 2-2 for the Jets (0-6-0 league, 0-8-0 overall), but Caola knocked home a shot in the waning seconds to put the Cadets (2-3-0, 3-3-1) in front.
Mike Baker and Jack O’Bryan also tallied for LaSalle, while goalie Kyle McGee stopped 26 shots. Frankie Congiusta scored a goal for Capital District, and goalie Patrick Turnbull turned aside 29 shots.
Elsewhere in the CDHSHL, Niskayuna/Schenectady/Albany (3-1-1, 4-2-1) played the GMSVS Storm to a 3-3 tie at Union College. Kevin Abatto, Matt Trippany and Patrick Trippany notched the Mohawks’s goals, while Evan Carey, Brendan Dunleavy and Maddie LeBel tallied for the Storm (2-4-1, 3-5-2).
COLONIE – Albany Academy marked its return to Section 2 hockey by beating the Capital District Jets 7-1 in a Capital District High School Hockey League game Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Albany County Hockey Facility.
Connor Momrow had two goals and three assists to lead the Cadets (1-0-0 league, 1-1-0 overall), who jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. Dan Moshier also tallied twice, and Ethan Duda added a goal and two assists. Noah Savastio scored Capital District’s lone goal less than five minutes into the third period.
After a two-decade absence, Albany Academy added a CDHSHL team to its hockey program. The Cadets are also fielding a New England Prep League squad this season, as they have every year since leaving Section 2 in the late 1990s.
