BUFFALO – Skaneateles (Section 3) scored three goals in the second and third periods to pull away for a 6-1 victory over Queensbury in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Division 2 hockey finals Sunday, March 10, at HarborCenter.
Ryan Gick broke the scoreless tie 2:16 into the second period to put the Lakers ahead 1-0. Cole Heintz and Luke Lynn added goals 40 seconds apart later in the stanza to make the score 3-0.

BUFFALO – Queensbury dominated from start to finish to defeat Section 1 champion John Jay-Cross River 4-0 Saturday, March 9, in the state hockey Division 2 semifinals at HarborCenter.
The Spartans out-shot John Jay-Cross River 30-9 over the first two periods, and goaltender Owen Smith stopped all 17 shots he faced to help Queensbury advance to Sunday’s final against Skaneateles (Section 3). Bethlehem’s Michael Bievenue could not be stopped as he led the Eagles to a 7-2 victory over Albany Academy Friday, Feb. 1, in a Capital District High School Hockey League game at the Albany Academy Fieldhouse.
Bievenue scorched the nets for six goals to raise his Section 2-leading goal total to 39 for the season. Justin Chenaille contributed a goal and three assists, while Ben LaVigne, William Bievenue and Connor Carroll all added a pair of assists. Goalie Michael Kurdziolek stopped 29 of the 31 shots he faced to earn the victory.

Shenendehowa scored three goals in the third period to defeat Queensbury 5-2 Friday, Jan. 18, in a Capital District High School Hockey League game at the Clifton Park Arena.
Brennan Alheim and Cole Haldane each had a pair of goals and an assist for the Plainsmen (5-2-0 league, 9-4-1 overall). Goalie Kent Leighton stopped 25 of the 27 shots he faced.

Bethlehem moved back into first place with an 8-3 victory over the Capital District Jets in a Capital District High School Hockey League game Friday, Jan. 11, at the Albany County Hockey Facility in Colonie.
The Eagles (6-2-0 league, 11-2-0 overall) scored the first three goals of the game and then used Michael Bievenue’s four-goal run in the third period to put the game out of Capital District’s reach.
Connor Carroll contributed two goals and three assists for Bethlehem, which moved one standings point ahead of Albany Academy for first place. Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa scored three times in the first six minutes of the third period to pull away for a 6-0 victory over the Capital District Jets in a Capital District High School Hockey League game Friday, Jan. 4, at the Albany County Hockey Facility.
Noah Sinclair tallied 37 seconds into the final period, and Nicholas Nucci struck less than two minutes later to help Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa break the game open. Connor Cecala added a goal at the 5:35 mark to seal the six-goal victory.
Sinclair and Cecala each had a pair of goals, and goalie Kyle Grace made 19 saves to pick up his second shutout of the season for Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa. Shenendehowa opened up the league portion of its season by defeating LaSalle 5-3 Wednesday, Dec. 12, in a Capital District High School Hockey League game at Hudson Valley Community College.
Zach Rupert scored a pair of goals, and goalie Kent Leighton made 38 saves for the Plainsmen (1-0-0, 3-2-0). Brennan Alheim contributed a goal and two assists, while Chris Lasher and Ryan Saelens added goals. Cole Haldane had three assists.
