ALBANY – Schalmont, Mekeel Christian, Shaker and Albany Academy won their games at Saturday’s ZG Slam North South Classic at the Washington Avenue Armory.
Schalmont kicked off the first day of the event with a 63-40 victory over Colonial Council rival Cobleskill-Richmondville. The Bulldogs hung with the Sabres through the first quarter, but Schalmont pulled away with a 13-4 run in the second quarter and a 22-6 spurt in the third quarter.
Shane O’Dell poured in 25 points to lead Schalmont. LJ Randle contributed 11 points, and Gannon Strube added 10 points. Donovan Pacatte got into early foul trouble for Cobleskill-Richmondville and was limited to 10 points. The Shenendehowa boys basketball team moved over .500 overall with a 53-37 victory over Shaker Tuesday, Jan. 8, in a Suburban Council game.
The Plainsmen (5-3 league, 6-5 overall) built a 39-18 lead through the first three quarters, and they didn’t look back in handing the Blue Bison (0-8, 1-11) their 10th consecutive loss.

TROY – Kingston (Section 9) won the Lansingburgh Thanksgiving Tournament with a 71-53 victory over the host school in Saturday’s championship game.
Brian Moore scored 27 points to lead Kingston’s offense. Isaiah Knight knocked down seven three-pointers as part of a 32-point night for Lansingburgh.
Shaker defeated Bishop Maginn 76-49 in the consolation game. The Blue Bison sank 11 three-pointers on their way to the victory.
