Colonial Council girls basketball: Mohonasen fends off Catholic Central

Mohonasen built an eight-point halftime lead and held on for a 48-42 victory over Catholic Central Friday, Feb. 8, in a Colonial Council girls basketball game.

Shiya Hunter and Breanna Lott each scored 17 points to lead the Mighty Warriors, who went into the locker room with a 28-20 halftime advantage. Sarah Mattefield led the Crusaders with 21 points, and Riqiya Harris added 13 points.

Cohoes rallied from an eight-point deficit to knock off Voorheesville 53-48. The Tigers outscored the Blackbirds 32-19 in the second half to earn the victory.

Colonial Council girls basketball: Cohoes rallies to defeat Cobleskill-Richmondville in overtime

Cohoes outscored Cobleskill-Richmondville 9-3 in overtime to pull out a 54-48 victory in a Colonial Council girls basketball game Friday, Feb. 1.

Trailing 23-19 at halftime, Cohoes pulled even by outscoring Cobleskill-Richmondville 26-22 in the second half. Olivia Huneau led the Tigers’ charge with 18 points, while Maggie Saunders contributed 12 points.

In other Colonial Council action. Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk cruised past Albany Academy for Girls 58-31 behind Lauren Sanderson’s 19 points. Aaliyah Juste scored nine points for Albany Academy. Colonial Council girls basketball: Big third quarter run propels Catholic Central past Albany Academy for Girls

Catholic Central used a 23-4 run in the third quarter to break open a close game and defeat Albany Academy for Girls 48-30 Friday, Jan. 18, in a Colonial Council girls basketball game.

Sarah Mattefield netted 17 points, and Riqiya Harris contributed 11 points for the Crusaders, who clung to a 19-16 halftime lead. Aaliyah Juste had 15 points for Albany Academy.

Elsewhere in the Colonial Council, Cobleskill-Richmondville defeated Schalmont 44-32 at home. The Bulldogs outscored the Sabres 11-2 in the third quarter to take control.

Colonial Council girls basketball: Albany Academy for Girls defeats Lansingburgh; Voorheesville gets past Mohonasen

Albany Academy for Girls built a 19-9 lead in the first quarter and hung on for a 56-48 victory over Lansingburgh Tuesday, Dec. 18, in a Colonial Council girls basketball game.

Meleena Ottati netted 15 points, Sarah Richardson contributed 14 points and Aaliyah Juste added 13 points for Albany Academy for Girls. Madison Teta scored 16 points to lead three Lansingburgh players in double digits. Patience Riley had 14 points, and Autumn Anderson recorded 11 points.

Voorheesville defeated Mohonasen 57-48 in another Colonial Council clash. Olivia Barringer poured in 32 points for the Blackbirds, while Breanna Lott scored 16 points for the Mighty Warriors. Colonial Council girls basketball report: Holy Names pulls away from Mohonasen; Voorheesville prevails over Academy

Academy of the Holy Names pulled away for a 69-35 victory over Mohonasen in a Colonial Council girls basketball game Tuesday, Dec. 12, in Rotterdam.

Holy Names built a 19-11 lead in the first quarter and put the game out of Mohonasen’s reach with a 24-7 run in the third quarter.

Colonial Council girls basketball: Mohonasen defeats crosstown rival Schalmont

In their first meeting as Colonial Council rivals, the Mohonasen girls basketball team edged crosstown rival Schalmont 50-47 Friday, Dec. 7, at Mohonasen High School.

The Mighty Warriors built a seven-point lead after three quarters and then fended off a Schalmont rally in the fourth quarter to hang on for the victory.

Shiya Hunter scored 11 points, and Kateri Vumbaco added 10 points for Mohonasen. Payton Graber paced Schalmont with 19 points, and Haley Burchhardt chipped in with 12 points.
