ROTTERDAM – Top-seeded Lake George fended off No. 4 Mayfield 1-0 in the Section 2 Class C boys soccer semifinals Thursday, Oct. 25, at Mohonasen High School.
Phillip Shambo scored off a rebound in the 24th minute to give the Warriors their lead. Mayfield stormed back with a barrage of shots in the second half, but goalie Mason Flatley made several key saves to preserve the shutout.
Lake George advances to the Class C final, where it will meet No. 2 Maple Hill Monday, Oct. 29, at 4 p.m. at Colonie Central High School. Maple Hill got past No. 3 Stillwater 1-0 in the semifinals on a goal by Seth Roberts off Christian Beber’s corner kick in the first half. The top four seeds in the Section 2 Class C boys soccer playoffs advanced to the semifinal round with quarterfinal victories Monday, Oct. 22.
No. 1 Lake George (18-0-0) got past No. 8 Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons 3-1, as Alex Leonelli, Ethan Knauf and Justin Blanco tallied for the Warriors. Lake George goalkeeper Mason Flatley had several saves, including a key stop late in the second half. Wil Lawson notched Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons’ goal. The quarterfinal field is set in the Section 2 Class C boys soccer playoffs following Thursday’s opening round.
No. 6 Greenwich (9-6-2) dispatched No. 22 Canajoharie 8-2 in Greenwich. The Cougars (2-14-2) got on the scoreboard first on Walfre Vasquez’s goal three minutes into the first half, but the Witches scored eight unanswered goals to end Canajoharie’s upset bid.
Charlie Gartner recorded a hat trick, and Liam Kelleher contributed a goal and an assist for Greenwich. AJ Rymph, Bill Bink, Hunter Dixson and Connor Smith also tallied for the Witches. Tyler Nemjo’s performance in goal helped Tamarac fend off Stillwater 2-1 Saturday, Sept. 29, in a Wasaren League boys soccer game.
Nemjo stopped 15 of the 16 shots he faced to pick up the victory for the Bengals. Alex Bassey and Xander Gliosco tallied for Tamarac, with Dylan Briccetti picking up an assist.

Scott Travis tapped in the winning goal four minutes into overtime to lift Stillwater to a 3-2 victory over Tamarac Monday, Sept. 17, in a Wasaren League boys soccer game.
Travis was responsible for all of the Warriors’ goals. He headed in the first one off a corner kick from Grant Baker that tied the score at 1-1. Travis repeated the process a short time later, this time heading in a crossing pass from Jake Zdonick for a 2-1 Stillwater lead. GREENWICH – Charlie Gartner’s overtime goal lifted Greenwich to a 3-2 victory over Stillwater Wednesday, Sept. 5, in a Wasaren League boys soccer game.

Grant Baker scored four goals, including the game winner in overtime, to lift Stillwater past Waterford-Halfmoon 5-4 Thursday, Aug. 30, in a Wasaren League boys soccer game.
Stillwater led 4-1 with one minute left in the first half before Waterford-Halfmoon rallied. Tyler Galarneau scored off a corner kick to trim the deficit to 4-2. Jack O’Brien scored six minutes into the second half to pull the Fordians within a goal, and Nate Powell tied the score four minutes later.
