Boys basketball: Tamarac takes down Mechanicville on the road

Tamarac outscored Mechanicville 22-14 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 78-67 victory in a Wasaren League boys basketball game Wednesday, Feb. 6.

Anthony Ciampolillo had a big game for the Bengals, as he sank five three-pointers as part of a 30-point night. Frank Zotto contributed 23 points, and Bo Catherwood added 10 points.

Wasaren League boys basketball: Hoosick Falls surges past Tamarac

Hoosick Falls outscored Tamarac 23-10 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 65-52 victory Friday, Feb. 1, in a Wasaren League boys basketball game.

Jon Kempf and Max Kipp made a combined total of seven three-pointers to help the Panthers pull out the road win. Kempf finished with 22 points, and Kipp contributed 18 points, while Tristan Williams added 19 points for Hoosick Falls.

Wasaren League boys basketball: Stillwater rallies past Greenwich

Stillwater outscored Greenwich 23-13 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 66-56 victory Friday, Jan. 25, in a Wasaren League boys basketball game.

Brian McNeil poured in 31 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Warriors. Scott Travis knocked down a pair of three-pointers as part of a 17-point night for Stillwater.

Boys basketball: Tamarac defeats New Lebanon to clinch first winning season in 10 years

The Tamarac boys basketball team locked up its first winning season since 2009 with a 64-44 non-league victory against New Lebanon Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Anthony Ciampolillo and Frank Zotto each scored 17 points to lead the Bengals (11-3), who pulled away from the Tigers with a 21-9 run in the second quarter. Cole Erickson had 14 points, and Clayton Erickson contributed 13 points for New Lebanon.

Elsewhere, Duncan Tallman became Mohonasen’s all-time scoring leader as the Mighty Warriors defeated Schenectady 71-63. Tallman scored 13 of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter lead Mohonasen to victory and surpass Phil DeCarlo atop the school’s leaderboard with 1,274 points.

Shawn Gillisslee chipped in with 16 points, and Chase Monroe added 15 points for Mohonasen, which overcame a slow start to build a 33-30 halftime lead. Elijah Johnsen had 15 points for Schenectady. Wasaren League boys basketball: Hoosic Valley defeats Cambridge at home

Hoosic Valley went on a 13-5 run in the third quarter to take the lead and held on for a 46-38 victory over Cambridge Friday, Jan. 18, in a Wasaren League boys basketball game in Schaghticoke.

Wasaren League boys basketball: Tamarac eases past Berlin

Tamarac jumped out to a 46-15 halftime lead and cruised to a 91-32 victory over Berlin in a Wasaren League boys basketball game Wednesday, Jan. 16.

Anthony Ciampolillo led the Bengals with 23 points, while Bo Catherwood contributed 19 points. Dan Honsinger added 10 points for Tamarac.

Wasaren League boys basketball: A big second quarter propels Tamarac past Spa Catholic

Tamarac outscored Saratoga Central Catholic 24-10 in the second quarter to pull away for a 74-52 victory over the Saints Friday, Jan. 11, in a Wasaren League boys basketball game.

Brandon Napoli netted 18 points, and Anthony Ciampolillo contributed 12 points for Tamarac (5-2 league, 8-3 overall). Dan Honsinger was one of two players to score nine points for the Bengals, but it was his defensive work that made the difference as he limited Spa Catholic’s leading scorer, Jordan Catone, to two points.

Wasaren League boys basketball: Tamarac continues its upward trajectory with victory over Mechanicville

After winning three games in 2017-18, the Tamarac boys basketball team continued its ascent of the Wasaren League standings with a 70-63 victory over Mechanicville Friday, Jan. 4.

Jacob DeFreest led five players in double digits with 17 points for the Bengals, who improved to 4-1 in the league and 7-2 overall. Dalton Maxon had a double-double with 11 points and 18 rebounds, while Bo Catherwood and Frank Zotto each added 13 points. Anthony Ciampolillo chipped in with 11 points.

Boys basketball: West Genesee edges Shenendehowa in Hoops for the Hospital Tournament final

West Genesee (Section 3) rallied from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter and pulled out a 49-48 overtime victory over Shenendehowa in the finals of the Hoops for the Hospital boys basketball tournament Friday, Dec. 28, at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse.

The Plainsmen used an 18-7 run in the second quarter to help build a 37-23 lead going into the final period. However, West Genesee outscored Shen 20-6 in the last eight minutes to force overtime.

Shen’s Jake Reinisch led all scorers with 20 points, while two West Genesee players combined to score 28 points.

Shen advanced to the finals with a 50-36 victory over Fairport (Section 5) Thursday, Dec. 27. James Altenburger netted 15 points, while Reinisch and Lucas Seyoum each added 11 points for the Plainsmen, who sealed the victory with an 18-9 run in the fourth quarter. Boys basketball: Tamarac upends Fort Ann; Albany Academy handles Newburgh Free Academy

Tamarac used a 23-7 second-quarter spurt to pull away for a 64-51 victory over Fort Ann in a non-league boys basketball game Saturday, Dec. 22.

Bo Catherwood led a balanced Bengals attack with 18 points. Frank Zotto contributed 12 points, while Anthony Ciampolillo and Jacob DeFreest each added 10 points.

Luke Loso had 16 points, and Ritchie Jones chipped in with 11 points for Fort Ann.
