No. 5 Schalmont avenged an earlier loss to Watervliet by defeating the No. 12 Cannoneers 42-35 Saturday, Feb. 15, in the Section 2 Class B girls basketball playoffs in Rotterdam.
The Sabres outscored the Cannoneers 11-3 in the second quarter to take a 21-14 halftime lead, and they held on to advance to a quarterfinal match-up with No. 13 Fonda-Fultonville Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Tamarac High School.
Payton Graber scored 21 points, and Haley Burchhardt contributed nine points for Schalmont. Makayla Milligan had nine points for Watervliet.

Mohonasen built an eight-point halftime lead and held on for a 48-42 victory over Catholic Central Friday, Feb. 8, in a Colonial Council girls basketball game.
Shiya Hunter and Breanna Lott each scored 17 points to lead the Mighty Warriors, who went into the locker room with a 28-20 halftime advantage. Sarah Mattefield led the Crusaders with 21 points, and Riqiya Harris added 13 points.
Cohoes rallied from an eight-point deficit to knock off Voorheesville 53-48. The Tigers outscored the Blackbirds 32-19 in the second half to earn the victory.

Cohoes outscored Cobleskill-Richmondville 9-3 in overtime to pull out a 54-48 victory in a Colonial Council girls basketball game Friday, Feb. 1.
Trailing 23-19 at halftime, Cohoes pulled even by outscoring Cobleskill-Richmondville 26-22 in the second half. Olivia Huneau led the Tigers’ charge with 18 points, while Maggie Saunders contributed 12 points.
In other Colonial Council action. Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk cruised past Albany Academy for Girls 58-31 behind Lauren Sanderson’s 19 points. Aaliyah Juste scored nine points for Albany Academy. Albany Academy for Girls used an 11-3 run in the first quarter and a 12-2 run in the fourth quarter to defeat Watervliet 39-31 Friday, Jan. 25, in a Colonial Council basketball game.
Mianna Jackson and Meleena Ottati each scored 11 points for the Bears. Amia Maldonado led the Cannoneers with nine points.
In other Colonial Council action, Voorheesville posted a 52-47 victory over Cobleskill-Richmondville. Lily Zanello had 13 points, and Olivia Barringer contributed 12 points for the Blackbirds. Juliana Paddock hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give Loudonville Christian a 51-50 victory over Northville in a non-league girls basketball game Tuesday, Jan. 22, in Loudonville.
The Eagles built a 28-15 halftime lead, but the Falcons stormed back with a 23-9 run in the third quarter to grab a 38-37 advantage. The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle before Paddock’s three-pointer gave Loudonville Christian the victory.
Paddock finished with eight points, while Genevieve Swanson netted 16 points for the Eagles. Victoria Ralston contributed 11 points, and Abbey Woods added 10 points.

Sarah Mattefield netted 17 points, and Riqiya Harris contributed 11 points for the Crusaders, who clung to a 19-16 halftime lead. Aaliyah Juste had 15 points for Albany Academy.
Elsewhere in the Colonial Council, Cobleskill-Richmondville defeated Schalmont 44-32 at home. The Bulldogs outscored the Sabres 11-2 in the third quarter to take control.

Breanna Lott converted on a traditional three-point play with two seconds left to give Mohonasen a 57-55 victory over Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk in a Colonial Council girls basketball game Tuesday, Jan. 15.
Lott hit the go-ahead basket and was fouled on the play. She then converted on the ensuing free throw to give the Mighty Warriors their two-point margin of victory.

Payton Graber could not be stopped, as she poured in 40 points to lead Schalmont to a 53-42 victory over Voorheesville Friday, Jan. 11, in a Colonial Council girls basketball game.
Graber made five three-pointers for the Sabres, who used a 22-5 run in the third quarter to take control. Graber also made 11 of her 13 free throws.

Watervliet scored the final five points of the game to defeat Lansingburgh 58-52 in a Colonial Council girls basketball game Tuesday, Jan. 8.
Raynelle Davis scored 13 points, and Makayla Milligan contributed 12 points for the Cannoneers. Autumn Anderson netted 14 points for the Lady Knights, who closed the gap to one point with less than one minute left in the fourth quarter. Patience Riley chipped in with 11 points for Lansingburgh, and Madison Teta added 10 points.

Albany Academy for Girls overcame a five-point halftime deficit to pull out a 44-41 victory over Ichabod Crane in a Colonial Council basketball game Friday, Jan. 4.
Aaliyah Juste poured in 28 points to lead the Bears to victory. Madison Graham paced the Riders with 18 points.
In other Colonial Council action, Academy of the Holy Names defeated Voorheesville 51-31 on the road. Grace Field scored seven of her team-high 19 points in the fourth quarter as Holy Names pulled away with an 18-5 run.
