Suburban Council boys soccer: Shaker earns tie against Averill Park; Bethlehem shuts out Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake

Shaker and Averill Park played to a 1-1 tie Tuesday, Sept. 4, in a Suburban Council boys soccer game.

Logan Bielawski scored on a free kick from just outside the penalty box 15 minutes into the contest to put Averill Park ahead 1-0. Shaker countered five minutes later when Ian Wu tucked in a pass from Stephen Guidi to knot the score at 1-1.

Both sides had opportunities to score the go-ahead goal, but they could not get the ball into the net following the flurry of activity midway through the first half. Averill Park goalkeeper Erik Jeschke stopped 10 shots, while Shaker netminder Rohan Bagchi had four saves.

Elsewhere in the Suburban Council, Derrin Gumustop recorded a hat trick in Bethlehem’s 4-0 victory at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake.

Gabe Kaprielian tallied first for the Eagles, and then Gumustop got going to help Bethlehem pull away.
