Suburban Council girls soccer: Saratoga Springs defeats Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake; Shenendehowa pulls away from Troy

Three goals in the final 15 minutes of regulation helped Saratoga Springs defeat Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 5-1 in a Suburban Council girls soccer game Tuesday, Sept. 11.

After Katie Ramos pulled the Spartans within a goal midway through the second half, Ainsley Cumming struck for two goals in a six-minute time span to push the Blue Streaks’ lead to 4-1. Rory Taylor added an insurance goal with less than two minutes left in regulation for Saratoga Springs (2-0-2 league, 3-0-2 overall).

Julia DiMenna scored two goals off assists from Leah Radovic for the Blue Streaks. Natalie Jillson had eight saves in goal for Saratoga Springs.

Goalkeepers Kelly Anderson and Hannah Ashcraft posted a combined total of seven saves for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake.

Elsewhere in the Suburban Council, Shenendehowa eased past Troy 7-0. Jen Kirker, Brooke Delaignore and Michelle Clarkin all tallied twice for the Plainswomen, who led 2-0 at halftime.

Troy goalkeeper Maddie Rifenberick made 22 saves.
