Holy Names needs overtime to eliminate Beekmantown in Class B subregional

PLATTSBURGH – Megan Bell and Ava Panto scored overtime goals to lead Academy of the Holy Names to a 3-1 victory over Section 7 champion Beekmantown in a Class B subregional girls soccer game Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Plattsburgh High School.

Bell broke the 1-1 tie with 6 minutes left in the second overtime period to give Holy Names the lead. Panto then tallied an insurance goal with 1:40 remaining.

Avery Durgan scored off a pass from Kiera Regan 11:03 into the first half to put Beekmantown in front, but Panto struck the equalizer for Holy Names with 1:19 remaining before halftime. Holy Names continued to pressure Beekmantown’s defense in the second half and through the first overtime period before Bell put her team ahead to stay.

Holy Names meets Section 3 champion Holland Patent Saturday at Fulton High School for the Class B regional title. Holland Patent defeated Section 10 champion Potsdam 4-0 in the other subregional Tuesday.
