Four Section 2 girls volleyball teams reached the second round of state regionals with victories Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Class A representative Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake had little trouble with Section 3’s Jamesville-DeWitt, as the Spartans won 25-7, 25-9 and 25-16 to set up a regional final match against Section 10’s Massena Saturday, Nov. 10. Carlie Rzeszotarski recorded 10 kills and two blocks, while Claire Isaksen contributed 31 assists for BH-BL. Grace Isaksen led the defensive effort with 19 digs.

Broadalbin-Perth took three straight games from Section 7’s Peru to win its Class B regional 25-5, 25-15, 25-15. Casey Brown notched nine kills and four blocks for the Patriots, who will also face a Section 10 representative in Saturday’s regional final at Massena High School. Eliana Fraser chipped in with seven kills and 22 digs.

In Class C, Section 2 champion Voorheesville advanced with a 25-13, 18-25, 25-15, 25-2 victory over Section 7 representative Saranac Lake. Marie Julian paced the Blackbirds with 22 service points (including four aces), seven kills and four digs, while Katie Bablin added 12 service points (three aces), 13 assists and nine digs. Victoria Konicki recorded 12 kills and seven blocks. Voorheesville takes on the Section 10 champion Saturday at John Jay-Cross River High School in Section 1.

Mayfield moved on in the Class D regionals with a 25-9, 25-15, 25-11 victory over Section 7’s Lake Placid. Mikayla Myers set the pace with 13 service points, seven kills and five digs for the Panthers, who play Section 10’s Chateaugay Saturday at Massena High School.

Class AA champion Shenendehowa is off until Saturday, when it plays the Section 3 champion in the regional final at Gloversville High School.
