BUFFALO – Skaneateles (Section 3) scored three goals in the second and third periods to pull away for a 6-1 victory over Queensbury in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Division 2 hockey finals Sunday, March 10, at HarborCenter.
Ryan Gick broke the scoreless tie 2:16 into the second period to put the Lakers ahead 1-0. Cole Heintz and Luke Lynn added goals 40 seconds apart later in the stanza to make the score 3-0.
Lynn, Garrett Krieger and Jack Henry tallied in the third period for Skaneateles, which outshot Queensbury 30-16 for the game. Goalies Adam Casper and Chris Falso made a combined total of 15 saves.
Owen Smith stopped 21 shots on goal for Queensbury. Brendan Duffy broke up Skaneateles’ shutout bid by tallying with 17 seconds left in regulation.
