GUILDERLAND – Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake runners took the top four places to dominate a Suburban Council quad meet against Colonie, Columbia and Guilderland Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Tawasentha Park.
The Spartans defeated Colonie 15-50, Columbia 16-45 and Guilderland 18-39 in the boys race. Guilderland’s girls team swept its opponents by scores of 21-36 over Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, 26-29 over Colonie and 23-34 over Columbia.
Aidan Gillooley had the fastest time of the day for the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake boys team. Gillooley covered the hilly 2.86-mile course in a time of 15:52.79. Evan Brennan was second with a time of 15:53.09, and Nick Hunziker finished third with a time of 15:53.36. Tyler Berg claimed fourth place with a time of 15:53.70.
Liam Danaher led Columbia with a fifth-place finish in a time of 15:55.00. He was followed by three Guilderland runners: Sean O’Brien (sixth place, 16:08.73), Nicholas Soldevere (seventh, 16:13.43) and John Parsons (eighth, 16:14.94).
Guilderland defeated Columbia 22-36 and Colonie 15-45. Columbia prevailed over Colonie 24-31.
Colonie’s Kathryn Tenney dominated the field in the girls’ varsity race, as she won with a time of 18:32.00. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake’s Rory Graham was second with a time of 18:50.00, and Guilderland’s Gabby Cusato placed third with a time of 19:03.00. Columbia’s Abigail Moxon finished fourth with a time of 19:10.00.
Colonie defeated Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 20-37 and Columbia 24-35. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake edged Columbia 27-28.
