Scenes from Suburban Council baseball: Shenendehowa powers past Schenectady

SCHENECTADY – Shenendehowa broke open the game with a four-run sixth inning on its way to an 11-2 victory over Schenectady Tuesday, April 23, at Central Park.

Thomas Krill and Nick Lemire hit back-to-back RBI singles to get Shen’s rally going. Sam Law scored on a double play, and Evan Bean singled in Krill to give the Plainsmen a 9-2 advantage. Law and Stephen Smith added RBI singles in the top of the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.

Jake Reinisch had an RBI double and three singles to lead Shen’s offense. Reinisch also scored three runs, while Krill knocked in two runs and scored twice on two hits. Lemire and Ben Lavery each contributed a pair of hits, and Bean drove in two runs.

Three Shen pitchers combined to limit Schenectady to three hits. Jack Flaherty earned the victory after pitching into the bottom of the fifth inning, allowing two runs and striking out three batters.
