Wasaren League boys soccer: Tamarac fends off Hoosic Valley; Stillwater stifles Greenwich

Tamarac hung on for a 3-2 victory over Hoosic Valley in a Wasaren League boys soccer game Thursday, Sept. 27.

Alex Bassey’s goal off Dylan Briccetti’s assist in the second half proved to be the game winner for the Bengals. Briccetti and Max Ali converted penalty kicks for Tamarac’s other two goals.

William Mansfield and Isaac Carlo tallied for Hoosic Valley, but Tamarac goalkeeper Andrew Minbiole stopped 14 shots to pick up the victory on Senior Night. Hoosic Valley netminder Matt Rowe had 13 saves.

In other Wasaren League boys soccer action, Stillwater received a stellar performance from goalie Tim Buchal in a 3-0 victory over Greenwich. Buchal stopped all 10 shots he faced to earn the victory.

Grant Baker tallied twice in the first half, and Isaac Cutler added a goal for Stillwater (7-2-0 league, 9-2-0 overall). Sam Whiting made eight saves for Greenwich (4-3-2, 5-4-2).
